LigaSure™ Maryland Jaw Laparoscopic Sealer/Divider
The LigaSure™ Maryland Jaw Laparoscopic Sealer/Divider by Medtronic is a precision-engineered advanced bipolar vessel sealing instrument designed for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. Combining the trusted Maryland jaw geometry with LigaSure™ energy technology, this instrument delivers reliable, consistent sealing and dividing of vessels and tissue bundles up to 7mm in diameter — all in a single, ergonomic device.
Key Features
- Maryland Jaw Design: The curved, fine-tipped jaw profile enables precise blunt dissection, grasping, and tissue manipulation in confined anatomical spaces — ideal for delicate laparoscopic procedures.
- Advanced Bipolar Energy: Utilizes LigaSure™ technology to fuse collagen and elastin in vessel walls, creating a permanent, reliable seal without sutures, clips, or staples.
- Vessel Sealing up to 7mm: Consistently seals vessels and tissue bundles up to 7mm in diameter with minimal thermal spread, reducing collateral tissue damage.
- Integrated Cutting: Built-in blade allows simultaneous sealing and dividing in a single activation, streamlining operative workflow and reducing instrument exchanges.
- Nano-Coating Technology: Proprietary jaw coating minimizes tissue sticking and char buildup, maintaining jaw cleanliness throughout the procedure for consistent performance.
- Intelligent Energy Delivery: The generator automatically adjusts energy output based on real-time tissue feedback, providing audible and visual confirmation when a complete seal is achieved.
- Ergonomic Handle: Lightweight, pistol-grip handle with rotating shaft allows 360° rotation for optimal instrument positioning and reduced surgeon fatigue during extended procedures.
- Single-Use / Disposable: Sterile, single-patient use design eliminates reprocessing concerns and ensures consistent performance with every procedure.

This reprocessing instruction applies to reusable surgical and endoscopic instruments supplied by MEDLENE Medical.
GENERAL
Reusable surgical instruments from MEDLENE Medical can be used by medical professionals for a surgical procedure and can be reused after qualified reprocessing.
The professional user selects the appropriate instruments according to the intended function, the tissue to be manipulated and the anatomical structures.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
MEDLENE Medical instruments must be cleaned, disinfected,
and sterilized before first use. Protective caps and transport packaging must be
removed beforehand.
A complete functional check must be carried out before each use. Improper use and overstraining due to twisting / levering can lead to breaks and permanent deformation.
Do not use metal brushes or abrasives, as there is a risk of corrosion due to surface damage. The safe
combination of instruments with each other or of instruments with implants must be checked by the user before clinical use.
Be careful when handling sharp tips and cutting edges - risk of injury.
In case of patients with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJK), suspected CJK or possible variants of this disease, the applicable national regulations regarding the preparation of instruments must be applied. Never leave instruments in disinfectant solution for too long. Follow the instructions of the respective manufacturer.
